One of the Malaysia warriors during British protectorate before Japan
protectorate is Tok Janggut. Tok Janggut or his real name is Haji Mat Hassan
bin Munas was born on 1853 in Kampung Jeram, Pasir Puteh, Kelantan. But, he was
stay at Kampung Nering, Kelantan.

Haji Mat Hassan bin Munas was known as ‘Tok Janggut’ because he keeps
his beard down to the chest. In addition,
Tok Janggut was good in religion as he got the education from ‘pondok’ at Kelantan
and also at Mecca. Besides, he was also good in martial art which is ‘Silat’. Other than that, he works as farmer and trader.
